21-year-old Shruti Haasan, is the beautiful and multi-talented daughter of two powerhouse performers Kamal Haasan and Sarika. A psychology graduate, Shruti learnt music at the Musicians Institute in California. Her career in the entertainment industry began at the tender age of 6, when she sang her first song in her father's Thevar Magan. The album was critically praised and won Shruti accolades for her efforts. She later sang a duet in the voice of a child, with her father Kamal Haasan, in the film, Chachi 420.
In 2000, Shruti made her cinematic debut in the Tamil and Hindi bilingual film, Hey Ram. With this film came her second song, where she sang the bilingual versions of the title theme, Rama Rama with her father, in Hindi and Tamil. She also did a cameo in the biopic of Mahatma Gandhi. Shruti branched out a career into modeling and started off by making an extra ordinary appearance in the Frappe! magazine version of September 2007. Her beauty later added glitters to the already glittering cover of the magazine Verve.
Shruti made her acting debut in Bollywood with Soham Shah’s film Luck, opposite Imran Khan. She has also recorded a song for the film. You can expect lots more from this unpredictable girl!
She also recently sang for a Tamil film and is all set to release her debut album, in which she has composed written and sung songs. Her upcoming projects include music composition for the Tamil film Unnaipol Oruvan. The bilingual, is a remake of the successful Hindi film, A Wednesday! With thousands swooning in admiration already, Shruti Haasan is Bollywood latest find and definitely a talent to watch out for
