An extraordinarily talented, ordinary child - Darsheel Safary is clearly year 2007's greatest discovery.
Darsheel made his foray into the Indian film industry as the central character in Aamir Khan's directorial debut, Taare Zameen Par. The film revolves around a dyslexic 8-year-old child, and Darsheel's rendition of the character is beyond brilliant.
Taare Zameen Par was instantly declared a superhit and won the 2008 Filmfare award for the Best film.
Darsheel was nominated at the same award function for the Best Actor in a leading role up against the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Akshay Kumar. A nomination in the same category as these legends was enough to catapult Darsheel into the big league.
And then, the icing on the cake - Darsheel Safary was declared the winner of the Critics Award for the Best Actor at the Filmfare Awards 2008.
An award winning performance in a super-strong debut, all at the age of 9... need we say more?
